so kelsey won some tickets to a private radio concert last week and so we got to go see mat kearney. literally, it was like 15 people + mat kearney , 2 feet away from me singing songs. he played: nothing left to lose, closer to love, and hey mama, which are my top three favorite songs. it was amazing. he played music and talked about the songs that he wrote like he was hanging out/playing them to his best friends. i think that's how all music should be. that's how all songs should make you feel. if i ever become a famous singer, i will only play small shows and share my stories like that. oh and extra bonus i got to meet him and take my picture with him, if only he wasn't married already.
also, i finished ender's game this week. i think it comes in close second to being one of my favorite books i read this summer (first, of course was to kill a mockingbird). i thought it was going to be about aliens and outer space, which it kind of is. but that is the premise of the book. what it's really about is about people and human nature, it's about power and struggle, friendship, loneliness, and love. it's about human emotion. it's about being young, brilliant, and reckless. it was awesome to read a really good book that i haven't read before. i loved it because it gave me that excited/nervous feeling of not knowing what was going to happen next and at the end of it i felt really accomplished about finishing a new book. i also felt sad though, sad that it was over and sad that there wasn't more. i always think about that when i finish books, where do your characters go and what if they had more to tell, i guess that's why i feel sad for myself and for them.
